The Loneliness Epidemic
If you’ve been paying attention the last few years, you’ve probably heard things like we are facing a “loneliness epidemic” and all of of the empirical evidence points to it being real. Hell, even the surgeon general posted a video on it.
There are a ton of serious consequences that come along with it, including about a 30% increase in chances of developing heart disease or stroke, and a staggering 60% chance of an early death.
It’s also true that loneliness disproportionally affects men. We often have less support when it comes to mental issues.
Again, we should not blame women, but ourselves. We need to learn to seek help, learn to better express ourselves, and to quit simping – seriously. The dynamic we’ve fostered has made things worse, since less of us are in relationships and share intimate moments. Romantic relationships obviously, typically, make up a good percentage of our human interactions.
